Snow and Sunday school in Vysoki

Snow and Sunday school in Vysoki

While Israel felt only a slight touch of snowy winter this year, the town of Vysoki, South Russia, is totally covered with snow. The local community shared with us some pictures of locals removing the snow from the entrance to the synagogue, that was built a few years ago with the support of Shavei Israel.
Currently the synagogue also serves as a location of the Sunday school that re-opened its’ doors last year for some 20 children of different ages. Its program includes various classes devoted to Jewish tradition and studying Hebrew. Re-opening the school became possible thanks to the support of the Jewish Agency and the Russian Jewish Congress. This week was marked by a visit of special guests from Moscow and Voronezh who took part in the classes and supervised the work of the teachers and the level of the pupils.
